Introduction
Winston Churchill is reported to have said there aren't any extraordinary people, only ordinary people living in extraordinary times. I'm not sure about that but I do know that I'm your basic regular kind of guy who has lived through some extraordinary events.
One common storied theme is wishes. What would you wish for? Wishing for more wishes? No, you only get one. Often my one wish was to live around Christ to know what he was really like. I got to do this in a way. I lived in the company of one who was everything that I felt Christ was. This needs a lot of explanation in that I'm not saying this One was the same as the “Christ” as is often depicted as the Son of God in most "Christian" Religions but more like what the mystics and saints talk of.
This story may seem unbelievable. It may offend you. But, I swear to God it's a true story. Truth as I see it. Truth exists in the eyes of who's seeing it, meaning that opinion weighs in. I might say a meal was horrible whereas someone else couldn't get enough of it. What I was feeling and seeing may not be what someone else who was present did. This story is how I saw it.
So where do we start to talk of The Great One, Awake and Free? The context is a vast landscape of life.
It started at a crossroad. I was standing on a beach in South Lake Tahoe. It was night. The path that I had been following to spiritual freedom dead ended. I was pondering where to go next. Then something wonderful happened. It was in the field of awareness - I felt a happiness, a presence of peace and love. It was a feeling of understanding without a lot of detail of what was being understood. It was only a moment that came and went. What I knew was that this was the something that I'd always badly wanted. It existed. Now how to find it and keep it.
