This is from the movie Oppenheimer - "Quantum physics is not a step forward; it is a new way to understand reality. Einstein's opened the door, [and] now we are seeing a world inside of our world; a world of energy and paradox that not everyone can accept."
The movie depicted the creation of the atomic bomb in the 1940s. Most of the main characters were physicists. One of the most famous physicists of the time was Neil Bohr. In 1952 he said, "Everything we call real is made of things that cannot be regarded as real. If quantum mechanics hasn't profoundly shocked you, you haven't understood it yet."
Scientific thought is the attempt to understand what makes Reality, which can be experienced and applied. The results have been amazing. Surgeries, more babies born in good health, and products for war are only a few advancements that Science has achieved.
Yet, there is quite a bit of life that science can't explain. 'Charisma' is an example. There are obvious attractions promoting feelings and thoughts, yet, attraction, feelings, thoughts, and experience of Reality, beyond things such as heart rate, have yet to be measured with instruments.
There was one other interesting fact about 'Oppenheimer', there was a quote from the Bhagavad Gita. Oppenheimer learned Sanskrit while at the University of California in Berkeley. The Bhagavad Gita is a centerpiece of Hinduism. There is no evidence that Hinduism assisted his knowledge of the nature of the universe, leading to discoveries in physics. Yet, he did say that the Bhagavad Gita was his second favorite book.
Physics has led scientific knowledge to the frontier where the Physical meets the Meta Physical. Hinduism and Taoism fundamentals are about metaphysical energies interacting with Consciousness.
The comparison between Hinduism and quantum mechanics is a topic of interest for some scholars and thinkers who find parallels. For instance, the Vedas and other Hindu scriptures discuss ideas that resonate with quantum physics principles, such as the universe's interconnectedness, the influence of consciousness on the material world, and the cyclical nature of existence.
Taoism, in China, has also been linked to Quantum Mechanics. "Dancing with the Wuli Masters", written by Gary Zukav, speaks to this directly. Mr. Zukov was Ophrey Winfrey's most popular guest. "Dancing with the Wu Li Masters" won a science award.
His main observations of physics and Taoism led him to present a teaching labeled 'The Seat of the Soul'. Patterns of energy, known as "Metaphysical" have been part of Chinese Medicine, Diet, and overall lifestyle, including sex for over two thousand years.
Religion had been the mainstay of belief in explaining the way this hidden other 'world' works before the modern era. Numbers of 'how's' and 'why's' get swept up in a blanket "God works in mysterious ways", or other substitutions of "I know 'something' you don't know". This 'something' is about life, death, and an afterlife.
Many of these explanations are lollipops to soothe fundamental feelings of bewilderment. People walk around knowingly or unknowingly in the stress of not understanding their fundamental existence.
This stress is channeled into the life activities of families, industries, arts, and entertainment in a world of money, sex, and food. Endeavors of all sorts become goals to relieve this stress. "I know, I'll climb Mt Everest".
It is natural to wonder about how we got here, and how the world came to be. "God made it" isn't enough of an answer for most people. They need stories. God made the world, Adam, and Eve, and then things sour. Many stories abound in the halls of religion.
The stories exist to explain the principles of existence. Greek mythology was straightforward about this. The characters, the Gods, and humans, were known to be fictitious. Hindus also don't give the actuality of the stories a lot of weight. They exist only to bring to view life principles of the 'secret hidden world' and the human condition.
The nature of the human condition is also a large part of trying to sort out reality. The Hindus accounted for the total physiology, including the psychology of what makes people tick on top of the nature of the human 'soul', or spiritual dimension. So did the Taoists.
This begets the question, "What is Spiritual, and what is Physical?" Delineating these raises more befuddlement.
Organizing the different perspectives of philosophy can begin with two major schools of thought. Dual and Non-Dual. Duality suggests Spirit vs Matter. Non-Duality says, there aren't individual things, only an ever-changing tapestry of appearances. Life is a fabric composed of energies. This last phrase speaks to the fabric of time and space.
Another discovery of atomic physics is the word "Paradox" as a key to understanding the nature of the universe. A famous experiment was done to determine if light was composed of particles or energy. This becomes a central part of what is being explored here. The answer is both. Reality is a Paradox
.
There is a 'you' and 'others' and 'things'. Reality is composed of points of view and points to view. This is obvious. Reality is also not what it appears to be. The Paradox presented here stems from the idea that subject/object is in error-There is no 'you' and 'other'. There is only an awareness, or consciousness, that is conjuring all this up. The Creating principle and its creations are all one thing. It is also eternal, with the quality of being. The effects it has on people are wonderful. They feel connected.
This is known as God, Spirit, or Divine Self. Attempting to understand often brings associations to what is already known. What is known becomes projected onto what is unknown. The result is God as a big invisible man full of human traits and other descriptions that don't hold water in the view of rationality. People reject the idea of God for good reason. Notions of a Parental Deity, Creator Deity, and a Deity who needs their hands in our business are easily rejected by rational people. The fairy tales of immaculate births and magic lose their luster quickly to a rational investigation into Reality. What is to be noted here is Reality is much more magical than the invisible, angry man in the clouds
What we are looking at reveals the need to understand what we are looking with. The hidden world of the outside also becomes the hidden world inside. The center of this interior world is the "I". What are we?
